explanation time: transient cover art

log date: December 22, 2018

the cover of the new EP, transient, made by Karlo, an intramuros native chaos monger, is a deconstruction of a photo of a construction site in Cubao last 2015 (just before I left it). That photo was used as the cover of the first EP I released (Social Constructs) during the same year using my other persona.

i guess, like the content of the compilation and the title, this represents the deconstruction of everything I believed in yet again and the realization that permanence is a luxury only fictional characters have. reality will always require us to be moving either forward, backward, or sideways but we will never be stagnant. for the past few years I’ve always moved my residence annually and this year I decided to go back to Cubao. A place that’s been very dear to me.

more than anything, I think this release also represents the closing of the loop and the completion of my transition from my old identity to Shape/Shift. It’s been almost a year since I tried to restart everything musically where I tried to do styles and techniques I haven’t tried before (Said tried to many times). Without limitations, as I don’t have to define what I do anymore. I just do what feels right and what pleases me. each track here embodies things I’ve learned from all the people I’ve interacted with during this transition (musicians, artists, workmates, etc.) and I’m pretty much at peace with them and I hope anyone who listens to them connects too.

though this ends a loop. it begins a new one and idk if this one will suck or not but definitely, it will keep moving
